Are you an observant thinker who understands deeply

At times, we are too quick to judge, too self centred and too pre-occupied with our own agendas to realize what is really going on around us and especially with the people around us.

Sometimes the truth is blatantly obvious, but in most cases you need more time , more information or more observation to draw any conclusions.

Take in the facts, let it percolate and aha answer will show up.

Then there are those who would argue that there is no need to understand, just act, do and accomplish.

A story about being an observant thinker who understands deeply

Chuan and Jing joined a wholesale company together just after graduation. Both worked very hard.

After several years, the boss promoted Jing to sales executive but Chuan remained a sales rep. One day Chuan could not take it anymore, he tendered his resignation to the boss and complained that the boss did not value hard working staff, but only promoted those who flattered him.

The boss knew that Chuan worked very hard. In order to help Chuan realize the difference between him and Jing, the boss asked Chuan to do the following. Go and find someone selling water melons in the market? Chuan returned and said yes. The boss asked how much per kg? Chuan went back to the market to ask and returned to inform boss they were $12 per kg.

The Boss told Chuan, I will ask Jing the same question? Jing went, returned and said, boss, there is only one person selling water melons. They cost $12 per kg, $100 for 10 kg, he has an inventory of 340 melons. On the table there are 58 melons, every melon weighs about 15 kg, they were bought from the South two days ago, they are fresh and red and good quality.

Chuan was very impressed and realized the difference between himself and Jing. He decided not to resign but to learn from Jing.
