One of the best yet hardest thing you will ever do for yourself

This is one of the best yet hardest thing you will ever do for yourself.  In this age and time, we find ourselves pulled by many obligations and distractions. By no means, this will be an easy feat to try to get through the 11 videos on your own. However, I believe that anything is possible.

There are things that you find out that you feel compelled to share with your children, your loved ones and friends. This is one of those things for me.

Ideally, the best thing to do is to go and take the 10 day silence retreat to experience the process. They have worldwide locations including North America. It is free of charge and you can give donations afterwards. You can find out more at Dhamma.  You can also read my posts 10 days silence retreat and How To Stop My Mind From Thinking All The Time.

Mahatma Buddha’s the four noble truths are:

1. Life means suffering.

2. The origin of suffering is attachment.

3. The cessation of suffering is attainable.

4. The path to the cessation of suffering.

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

Day 5

Day 6

Day 7

Day 8

Day 9

Day 10

Day 11

I found liberation through these meditations and find it to be a great source of peace, insight and power.

May you be well.

Your number one goal is to feel good right now

Your number one goal is to feel good right now

Your number one goal is to feel good right now

Survey: What would make you happy now?
Do you see yourself using something that uplifts your spirit now?

“Whatever we do, we are doing it to be happy, whether we realize it or not.” Ralph Parlette

The most important thing in your life is how are you feeling right now?

Do you have a cheerful optimistic disposition?

Are You Happy Right Now in this Moment regardless of life’s ups and downs, challenges or journey to your goal?

No personal trait or achievement, deficiency, no fix me up, no to do, no one, no there or any possession can affect my happiness.

A worry free philosophy-letting go of pettiness.

What do you say to yourself?

Life is good

All is well

It’s a great day

Life is magnificent

I am grateful to be alive!

I feel fine, I feel great. I feel this way all the time.

Everything works out in my favour

I am lucky

Watch, I am going to get that…..(whatever you want i.e., promotion)

If thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. Matthew VIAs someone said that life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid across the line broadside, thoroughly used up and worn out.

100 Things that make me feel better

Stop and Think
I hope this makes you feel as good as it did me!
Do this slowly and really think about it! Take a few minutes and read
these. Think about them one at a time BEFORE going on to the next
one………

IT DOES MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD especially the thought at the end.
Falling in love.
Laughing so hard your face hurts.
A hot shower.
No lines at the Super Wal-Mart.
A special glance.
Getting mail.
Taking a drive on a pretty road.
Hearing your favorite song on the radio.
Lying in bed listening to the rain outside.
Hot towels out of the dryer.
Finding the sweater you want is on sale for half price.
Chocolate milkshake. (or vanilla!)
A long distance phone call.
A bubble bath.
Giggling.
A good conversation.
The beach.
Finding a $20 bill in your coat from last winter.
Laughing at yourself.
Midnight phone calls that last for hours.
Running through sprinklers.
Laughing for absolutely no reason at all.
Having someone tell you that you’re beautiful.
Laughing at an inside joke.
Friends.
Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you.
Waking up and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep.
Making new friends or spending time with old ones.
Having someone play with your hair.
Sweet dreams.
Hot chocolate.
Road trips with friends.
Swinging on swings.
Wrapping presents under the Christmas tree while eating cookies and
drinking eggnog.
Making eye contact with a cute stranger.
Winning a really competitive game.
Making chocolate chip cookies.
Having your friends send you homemade cookies.
Spending time with close friends.
Seeing smiles and hearing laughter from your friends.
Holding hands with someone you care about. Unknown

Running into an old friend and realizing that some things (good or bad) never change.

Watching the expression on someone’s face as they open a much desired present from you.

Watching the sunrise.

Getting out of bed every morning and being thankful for another beautiful day.

“Success in highest and noblest form calls for peace of mind and enjoyment and happiness which comes only to the man who has found the work he likes best.” Napoleon Hill

“I Live unconditionally.
Happiness is free-there are no conditions.
To be happy, I must give up self-improvement.
No amount of self-improvement can make up for lack of self-acceptance.
Being happy; doing nothing. I make myself miserable by my constant demands of musts, ought and should.
To be happy, I must be liked by everyone.
To be happy, I must always be right.
To be happy, I must always be good.
To be happy, I must always be in control.
To be happy, I must be treated fairly by everyone.
To be happy, I must deserve it.
To be happy, I must work for it.
To be happy, I must never get angry.
To be happy, I must be perfect.
To be happy, I must always be on time.
To be happy, I must never let my guard.
To be happy, I must hide my feelings.
To be happy, I must never be vulnerable
To be happy, I should weigh less and have a smaller stomach.
Joy is not a carrot.”

Habits are My Best Friend

Habits are My Best Friend

Habits are My Best Friend
As you know, what we do repeatedly becomes a routine, then we don’t need much effort to continue.

Habits

I Am HABIT

I am your constant companion.

I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.

I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.

I am completely at your command.

Half the things you do, you might just as well turn
over to me, and I will be able to do them quickly and
correctly.

I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with
me.

Show me exactly how you want something done, and
after a few lessons I will do it automatically.

I am the servant of all great men.
And, alas, of all failures as well.

Those who are great, I have made great.

I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision
of a machine.

Plus, the intelligence of man.

You may run me for profit, or run me for ruin; it makes
no difference to me.

Take me, train me, be firm with me and I will put the
world at your feet.

Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.
Who am I?

I am a *HABIT* !!!

Won’t Be Denied!
C.F. Jackson

“You are where you are and what you are because of yourself. Everything you are today-or ever will be in the future-is up to you. Your life today is the sum total of your choices, decisions and actions up to this point. You can create your own future by changing your behaviors. You can make new choices and decisions that are more consistent with the person you want to be and the things you want to accomplish with your life.” Brian Tracy

Success is the ability to live your life the way you want to live it, doing what you most enjoy, surrounded by people you admire and respect.

Habit, my friend, is practice long pursued, that at last becomes the man himself. –Evenus

Habits are link a cable. WE weave a strand of it every day and soon it cannot be broken. Horace Mann

Any act often repeated soon forms a habit; and habit allowed, steadily gains in strength. At first it may be as a spider’s web, easily broken through, but if not resisted, it soon binds us with chains of steel. Tryon Edwards

Man becomes a slave to his constantly repeated acts. What he at first chooses, at last compels. Orison Swett Marden

No matter how long you have had a habit, you can break it if you want. If it is to be, it is up to you.

So develop habits of facing your fears, working hard and being the person you want to become.

Habits are My Best Friend

Discipline is Freedom

Discipline is Freedom

For a South Asian woman, Discipline is Freedom.

“Self-discipline is a form of freedom. Freedom from laziness and lethargy, freedom from the expectations and demands of others, freedom from weakness and fear—and doubt.
Self-discipline allows a pitcher to feel his individuality, his inner strength, his talent. He is master of, rather than a slave to, his thoughts and emotions.” H.A. Dorfman The Mental ABCs of Pitching

“You may not have connections, or an education, or come from a family with wealth, but with enough passion, sweat and *self-discipline*, you can make anything happen” Gary Vaynerchuk

Great news to share:
Just by spending 1/2 hour daily, one of our participants has discovered her passion and has decided to become a “Professional Organizer.”
Her own success story is amazing, where she cut down from 5 hours daily to 1/2 hour daily to organize and clean her household with 3 young children and a husband while working full time.
We know that she can do anything that she sets her mind to because she lost 40 lbs in the matter of a few months.
Cheers to her success!

“Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates. There’s plenty of movement, but you never know if it’s going to be forward, backwards, or sideways.” H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Then there are some who are finding these e-mails to be inspirational.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, that’s a good spot to be in.

“If I am willing to do what is easy, life will be hard. If I am willing to do what is hard, life will be easy.” Jim Rohn

The definition of self-discipline is the ability to get yourself to take action regardless of your emotional state. It is the ability of the individual to adhere to actions, thoughts, and behaviors that result in personal improvement instead of instant gratification.

“The successful person has the habit of doing the things failures don’t like to do. They don’t like doing them either necessarily. But their disliking is subordinated to the strength of their purpose.” E.M. Gray

Brian Tracy writes that you can Start, Stop, Increase or Decrease the activities that are not serving you because everything helps or hurt, gives or takes away.

“Self-discipline begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do.” Napoleon Hill

The five pillars of self-discipline are: Acceptance, Willpower, Hard Work, Industry, and Persistence. If you take the first letter of each word, you get the acronym “A WHIP” — a convenient way to remember them, since many people associate self-discipline with whipping themselves into shape.

Michael Anthony Janke’s online article summarizes his book Power Living – Mastering The Art of Self-Discipline. We have only selected excerpts of his article from the Internet.

Four keys to self-discipline:

Self-Control – The act of controlling our emotions, actions, thoughts, words, and personal direction.

Motivation – The “fire inside”, that fuels our efforts and makes accomplishments worth achieving.

Persistence – The ability to continue through adversity. The ability to brush off failure and stay focused on our goals.

Goals – Those tangible achievements that breed motivation and form our definitions of happiness and success.

Say no to destructive feelings, uncontrolled cravings, and selfish desires. Control your emotions, actions, words, and thoughts. Once we stop succumbing to every whim, craving, and desire we have; we live in a society where it is hard NOT to be fat, lazy, unhealthy, drugged up, bankrupt, depressed, or emotionally unstable. We have created so many conveniences, trends, wants, and erratic behaviors through advertising and mass media, that we are brainwashed to crave things. If you try to go “cold-turkey” on all of your cravings, habits, and behaviors, you will surely fail.

Here is a step by step description of this self-control technique:

1. Personal Inventory – Find a quiet and private place to sit down with a paper and pen. Begin taking a day by day inventory of your bad habits and destructive cravings.

2. Start Small – Begin reducing each habit or craving a little each day. Keep a journal of your progress and talk to yourself about the benefits of eliminating destructive behaviors.

3. Self-Denial – Start by denying yourself a certain pleasure each day. Target a daily activity like excessive eating or watching television.

4. Keep a Schedule – Make a to-do list and stick to it for a change. Make a commitment to write a daily schedule and accomplish every task.

5. Review – At the end of each day, sit down and critique your performance. Mentally re-live how you exercised self-control over your cravings and habits.

Another very effective technique is called the power band. This method involves wearing a piece of colored string or rubber band around your wrist to constantly remind yourself of the habit or craving you are going to control today. Take a large rubber band and write the bad habit or behavior that you wish to focus on for this particular day, and wear it around your wrist to constantly remind you of your control. I have personally seen this method change the lives of many people. Visualize in your mind that this rubber band empowers you with self-control that flows through your whole body. Every time you are faced with a certain thought, action, or environment that stimulates this craving or bad behavior, look to the power band for help. Remember that the power of your mind is the most important ally you have in the battle for self-control.

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” Jim Rohn

Discipline is Freedom

Taking Unconditional Action

Taking Unconditional Action

As a South Asian woman learn Taking Unconditional Action,

Let us take a road trip analogy of going to Chicago, we just need to continue our journey in spite of fear, mood, hardship and obstacles.

Start unconditional drive and keep taking action no matter what.

No matter the speed as long as you continue as you have heard the story of the rabbit and the tortoise. The one who continues consistently wins at the end.

Have blind faith and trust to give you confidence and vision without plain sight of the destination.

Don’t think, don’t think, don’t think; just keep taking action. Keep going regardless of disappointments, frustrations and your inner chat.

Accountability Partner is here to cheer you on, accompany and support you through out until the end.

Minimum: Choose your daily commitment
Target: Are you taking unconditional action? If not, what are you going to do differently and how you are going to implement it?

Maximum: Do the above and more

Most of us go through life as failures, because we are waiting for the “time to be right” to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be “just right.” Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along. Napoleon Hill

“The pain that’s created by avoiding hard work is actually much worse than any pain created from the actual work itself. Because if you don’t begin to work on those ideas that God has blessed you with, they will become stagnant inside of you and eventually begin to eat away at you. You might seem OK on the outside, but inside you will be ill from not getting those ideas out of your heart and into the world. Stalling leads to sickness. But taking steps, even baby steps, always leads to success.” Russell Simmons, Do You!

Make a commitment and a decision to make it happen. There is no such thing as try:

Taking Unconditional Action for South Asian women is crucial to change things.

How to build your own power instead of borrowing it

How to build your own power instead of borrowing it

We borrow power through association with others, our job or looks. These are largely external sources of power.

How to build your own power instead of borrowing it

  • Support: You are not alone. Having positive, understanding and empowering friends and family can make a great difference. Isolation can be very disempowering where you may feel that you are the only one facing a problem. When you see that there are other people going through similar issues, there is comfort in knowing that nothing is wrong with you.
  • Confidence building: You can do it. Inner, outer confidence and self-esteem are other critical ways How to build your own power instead of borrowing it. Act it until you make it.
  • Well being: You can have less stress. Energy is everything. To cope with life, to strive for your goals and to deal with the cards life throws at you. Stress can rob you of the power that you can exercise. Enough sleep, proper nutrition, exercise and spending time in nature can help with stress reduction. A regular spiritual practice and social interactions can increase your sense of well-being as well.
  • Financial independence: You can make more money. If you enjoy what you do, your work won’t feel like a burden, sacrifice or hinderance. When you do work based on your natural tendencies, strengths and monetary benefits, it does not feel like work. In addition, having your own money can free you from dependency on others, hence empowering you in return.

Instead of having an obsession with power, it is a positive attribute here because it would enable you to be less likely to be used or abused. Having the mindset that you are powerful, creative and resourceful can also set you on a path to empowerment.

How to build your own power instead of borrowing it

Start with where it is the easiest and concentrate on the things that you can control; even if the changes are small.

How long can you stand to be property of your father, brother, husband or your son?

As you depend so much for your basic human needs on men in your life, hence the decision making about your life stays with them too. If and when you are strong, independent and self-sufficient, you free yourself. You can make your own decisions what type of educations to get, where to work  and who to marry amongst many other choices that affection your life.

If you look around you will see that there are women who are being driven around, their forms are filled by men in their lives, and probably the grocery shopping is even done by men. It infuriates me, when they don’t think that we can or won’t let us do things that we can.

Some women may find comforting to be taken care of, but the price of that comfort is too high. It robs you of your life and power.

Here are 3 more things you can do to empower women by Opera

This blog is an open dialogue and we welcome your input.

How to create a sense of urgency

How to create a sense of urgency

Most people think that the difference they want to make in the world, they will do it tomorrow.

When they have enough time, enough money or perfected the art of something.

How to create a sense of urgency

Random thoughts on moving you to the next level:

  • we only have now, today and right moment to make a difference.Your power lies in this moment that is a present, not past or future
  • not here, not this and not with this person are symptoms of putting it off or major procrastination phenomenon
  • the truth is that you may keel over and die regardless of your age, health or other factors. After seeing a friend drop and pass away within 5 minutes at a tender age of 43, I am convinced that I better take each moment like a nectar and suck the juice out of it now.
  • my mother used to save everything, her good stuff that she brought with her as a dowry, sheets, dishes and other paraphernalia that one day her husband will buy a home and then she will start using it. She never lived to see that happen. So, use what you have now.
  • credibility is built through proper grammar and use of language. I would have to wait to perfect my writing or find people to edit this work. However, if I wait for that day, I could not contribute. Hence, I am not letting lack of resources or perfection stop me. If you are a prolific writer and would love to edit and contribute, please do.
  • excuses, blame and placing responsibility outside of us only allows us to keep our head in the sand of ignorance. We get so desensitized by the news that oh it is not happening to me or my sister; so why do anything.
  • here are more reasons for inaction: the problem is too big or the system is corrupted; how can one person make a difference?
  • we over philosophize everything to work on solutions, results or empowerment
  • get off your royal booty and risk something your time, energy and effort. Nothing ventured; nothing gained
  • you are “too” this or that, let us give it a nudge, a kick or move it around to see, if you can do anything
  • fear of disapproval
  • scared of looking like a fool
  • no experience; if anyone can do it, you can figure it out. It is not a rocket science or surgery. You maybe an amateur, but at least will see some results
  • every master once was a disaster
  • be a quick change artist
  • conditions will never be right
  • do it. Risk looking like a fool, failing, stumbling or even getting hurt.
  • So what, life is a beautiful journey even a little bumpy

Now you know how to create a sense of urgency, so start now. Pronto

Condition Yourself To Succeed

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. Theodore Roosevelt 26th president of US (1858 – 1919)

Bring it in the present; here and now by your entire might.

Most important, pronto and priority number 1.
Get out of “If only.” club.
Believe it possible (1-10)
Talk about it
See yourself
Bring it into your sweet spot
Like a costume try it on
Make it into a burning desire

Living obsession; intense passion or all consuming endeavor
Focus
Concentration
Every thought, action, self-talk, self-image, picture, ideal, declarations, incantations,
Visualization- how clearly you can see it? how often? how long you think or see it in your mind’s eye? and how intense?
Not for another minute; not another second.
Must be
The pursuit is exhilarating, energizing and absorbing.
Create space for it in your life.
Strand by strand making it real.
Every choice
This apply to love, but can to your obsession too:

It’s not what you say about him. It’s what you don’t say.
There’s not an ounce of excitement, not a… whisper of a thrill.
And this relationship has all the passion of a pair of titmice.
I want you to get swept away out there.
I want you to levitate.
I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish.
Be deliriously happy,
or at least leave yourself open to be.
I know it’s a cornball thing.
But love is passion, obsession, someone you can’t live without.
I say, fall head over heels.
Find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same way back.
How do you find him? Well, you forget your head, and you listen to your heart.
And I’m not hearing any heart.
‘Cause the truth is, honey, there’s no sense living your life without this.
To make the journey and not fall deeply in love, well, you haven’t lived a life at all.
Meet Joe Black Movie

Are you unstoppable and never letting my eyes off the target?

Rocky Balboa: I’d hold you up to say to your mother, “this kid’s gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid’s gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew.” And you grew up good and wonderful. It was great just watching you, every day was like a privilige. Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on the world, and you did. But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that! I’m always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You’re my son and you’re my blood. You’re the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain’t gonna have a life. Don’t forget to visit your mother.

Cause if you’re willing to go through all the battling you got to go through to get where you want to get, who’s got the right to stop you? I mean maybe some of you guys got something you never finished, something you really want to do, something you never said to someone, something… and you’re told no, even after you paid your dues? Who’s got the right to tell you that, who? Nobody! It’s your right to listen to your gut, it ain’t nobody’s right to say no after you earned the right to be where you want to be and do what you want to do!… You know, the older I get the more things I gotta leave behind, that’s life.

Pleasure and pain. They’re not opposites. They’re neighbors … separated by a thin line, by a split second.
One minute you’re feeling like everything is going your way … like you’re ready to climb the highest mountain … headed for the top of the world.
But in the game of life you never know.
You train for years to get a piece of personal glory or a chance to stand toe to toe with your peers and say, “Here I am. Take your best shot.” Then the contest begins and BANG! — you’re down for the count.
It’s not your day. You tried your best. But was it really your best?
So do you go home with a broken heart? Or do you get up smarter, wiser and better prepared then ever before?
It’s a new day … a new season … a new you!
You hope it won’t be the same story, or will pleasure turn into pain again? Are you ready to take life’s best punch — and stay on your feet?
I can’t answer that. Only you can.
Are you hoping for the best? Are you prepared for the challenge? Are you — A Contender?

Al Pacino’s Inch By Inch speech from Any Given Sunday

I don’t know what to say really.
Three minutes
to the biggest battle of our professional lives
all comes down to today.
Either
we heal
as a team
or we are going to crumble.
Inch by inch
play by play
till we’re finished.
We are in hell right now, gentlemen
believe me
and
we can stay here
and get the shit kicked out of us
or
we can fight our way
back into the light.
We can climb out of hell.
One inch, at a time.

Now I can’t do it for you.
I’m too old.
I look around and I see these young faces
and I think
I mean
I made every wrong choice a middle age man could make.
I uh….
I pissed away all my money
believe it or not.
I chased off
anyone who has ever loved me.
And lately,
I can’t even stand the face I see in the mirror.

You know when you get old in life
things get taken from you.
That’s, that’s part of life.
But,
you only learn that when you start losing stuff.
You find out that life is just a game of inches.
So is football.
Because in either game
life or football
the margin for error is so small.
I mean
one half step too late or to early
you don’t quite make it.
One half second too slow or too fast
and you don’t quite catch it.
The inches we need are everywhere around us.
They are in ever break of the game
every minute, every second.

On this team, we fight for that inch
On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us
to pieces for that inch.
We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch.
Cause we know
when we add up all those inches
that’s going to make the fucking difference
between WINNING and LOSING
between LIVING and DYING.

I’ll tell you this
in any fight
it is the guy who is willing to die
who is going to win that inch.
And I know
if I am going to have any life anymore
it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch
because that is what LIVING is.
The six inches in front of your face.

Now I can’t make you do it.
You gotta look at the guy next to you.
Look into his eyes.
Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you.
You are going to see a guy
who will sacrifice himself for this team
because he knows when it comes down to it,
you are gonna do the same thing for him.

That’s a team, gentlemen
and either we heal now, as a team,
or we will die as individuals.
That’s football guys.
That’s all it is.
Now, whattaya gonna do?

“To think confidently, act confidently… Act the way you want to feel…A good idea if not acted upon produces terrible psychological pain. But a good idea actedupon brings enormous mental satisfaction. Got a good idea? Then do something about it.Use action to cure fear and gain confidence. Here’s something to remember: Actions feed and strengthen confidence; inaction in all forms feeds fear. To fight fear, act. To increase fear—wait, put off, postpone.-~ David J. Schwartz The Magic of Thinking Big

Motions are the precursors of emotions.

Doing and feeling inside. Focus on what I want. How I will feel be it, have it and do it.

Write your future. Just imagine that you already have what you want and write out a scene that describes it. Describe in such detail that you feel it, sense it and experience it. Jerry and Ester Hicks.

Gloriously wonderful day dream.catch the mood of the wishful field…drench yourself with that feeling.

“A brand new customer just called and ordered…I feel fantastic. I am still smiling and the customer was delight to work with right now. Detailed, joyful and enjoy the process as though you are writing in a journal after the fact.”

What I do right now, that is what I get later? Powerful thought and a ball of energy.
