Elder Abuse in South Asian Families

In South Asian families elder abuse goes undetected due to expectations of parents to serve as:

housekeepers
cooks
baby sitters
drivers
maids

Of course not everyone takes advantage of their elders.

However, I have heard horrific stories of kids getting their parents to sell all their land back in their home country and taking all the money away from them.

There has been reports of parents left on the balconies for the day in minus 30 weather conditions.

Minor things as not having a bank account, social life or mobility to get out of the house can be considered abuse.
