How Hypocrisy Robs You

You can loose a relationship, reputation and trust because of lying to others, but the consequences of lying to oneself are much more detrimental.

Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie.

Have you met someone who is really nice to your face and then you turn around that they are just putting a fake front.

It is understood that being polite to not hurt someone’s feelings is normally acceptable.

But have you noticed that when you deeply care about someone, you really tell them what you think.

Growing up, I came to hate hypocrisy, when people were claiming to be pious, religious and good, but were living two lives.

In South Asian communities, especially men live two lives.

At home, they assert strict rules and outside they do the complete opposite.

These guys go out to bars, pick up girls and tell lies to get what they want.

This friend of mine invited me to go to the Casino with him and told me oh no my wife could never step in a place like this. I thought to myself what am I chop liver.

At home, their wives have to be so pious that the Sun should not even touch them.

I have tended to be transparent even when there are consequences of dis-approval and disdain from my own family.

They know that I drink and date which is not permissible by the religion. It is not that I want dis-approval from others, but my reputation with myself is critical for me.

To me, it is better to be true to oneself than tell lies to yourself or others.

One cannot deal with a problem, if you cannot see it squarely.
