What thirty nine 39 cents can do

What thirty nine 39 cents can do

Last year on my birthday, my friends and family were going to get me gifts.

As appreciative as I would have been, there would have been gifts much wanted and others not so much. I could have received a new phone, some paraphernalia or dust collector pieces.

A friend who works with a factory in Pakistan gave me this idea to feed people at a low cost.

Instead of receiving gifts, I sent an e-mail requesting thirty 39 cents as many times as they could.

I set three goals of raising minimum $250, target $500 and mind blower $1200.

As I kept asking, I was able to build on the collection of money and get pledges.

Gratefully, my friends and family trust me to do the right thing.

To my surprise, I was able to raise the $1200 in the matter of couple of weeks.

This incident reminded me of working for Canadian Cancer Society and raising $375,000 from one event called Rely for life.

At both occasions, I was the happiest person on the planet. Both ventures brought out the best in people and I was surrounded by the best people around me.

In the business world, it is how to make a dollar even doing some shady things or misleading people or system.

Considering that I have a gift of instant trust, confidence and rapport building with other people, I have finally found a cause to promote.

It is amazing how 39 cents changed my world and fed one person a time in Pakistan feeding approximately 3080 people.

As per my dear adopted mommy, I can stretch a dollar from here to Chicago being so resourceful. Utilizing internet, TV and videos, I can put a system in place to combat the systemic oppression of South Asian women.

Now the challenge is how to bring resources together for South Asian Women Network TV-SAWNTV.

1. Sponsorship
2. Fundraising
3. Funding
4. Donations
5. For profit
6. Banks

All these have pros and cons and take time, a process and filling out a mountain of paperwork.

I cannot do this alone.

I am seeking support in raising funds, volunteers and writers at info@sawntv.com.

Thank you.
