“When you’re a kid, being grown up looks so easy. Nobody tells you it’s harder than it looks, that those feelings that you have that you don’t measure up, that you’re not keeping pace…they never go away. What do you do when you feel like you’re the only kid in a room full of adults? Well, the only thing you can do. You smile. You step up. You try your best to fit in.” Erica, S1E5

“Seems most of the time we walk around with the world on mute, but when you’re on the cusp of something dramatic and maybe life-changing, it’s like a filter comes off. Suddenly, everything comes alive and even the smallest moment is a view of a magical possibility. And you think, this is the night when you drop your mask and reveal your true self. This is the night when everything is rewritten.” Erica, S1E4
“Most of us think we know ourselves pretty well, our hopes, dreams, desires, we cling so tightly to the stories we tell ourselves not realising, that what we should do is let go,let go of the belief that we are invencible, let go the idea that we can’t do it on our own, let go of the fairy tale, because if we don’t let go, how can we move forward?” – Erica Strange

Somewhere along the line you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good; and when things got hard you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow. Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!
Now if you know what you’re worth than go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers sayin’ you ain’t what you wanna be because of him or her or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!
Until you start believing in yourself, you ain’t gonna have a life. Movie-Rocky Balboa

No one’s ever stuck anywhere. You are where you need to be right now and when you finish doing whatever it is that you’re meant to be doing, then you move on. If life’s journey be endless, where is it’s goal? The answer is, it’s everywhere.
“Every wall is a door” -Emerson
They say the greatest mistake is giving up, that true strength lies in the will to keep trying, keep hoping things will get better, keep reminding yourself all you’ve accomplished, keep everything in perspective, keep up the fight, because at the end of the day, that’s what your left with, the knowledge that you did your best and that you’ll wake up tomorrow and try again
‘ Some things are true, whether we want them to be or not. thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become habits and habits become destiny. it’s a hard thing to look deep down and examine character, will we do the right thing even when no one is looking? when its not convenient, when it’s really hard, will we do the right thing simply because we have to? because it’s who we are. Because it’s right.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. A man has to live with himself, and he should see to it that he always has good company. –Charles Evans Hughes

What kind of relationship do you have with yourself?

Do you love yourself?

Do you forgive yourself?

Do you give yourself what you seek in the world?

What type of reputation do you have with yourself?

Do you take yourself seriously?

Do keep your own word with yourself?

Do you respect yourself?

Do you visit the child within you?

Do you meet your own needs?

Do you live integrity with yourself?

Would you do the right thing, even if nobody is looking, when it is not convenient?

When it is really hard

Would you do the right things simply because you have to?

Because that is who we are

Because it is right

Do you make healthy choices that increase your personal power?

“We are the sum of all our choices. They define who we are. Choices. They are life’s constant. The choice to be brave & push forward. To turn back in retreat. The choice to stand still & watch the world pass you by. Sometimes we tell ourselves that there is no choice, when in fact the exact opposite is true. There is always a choice. Everyone’s got their own path. Some are only just beginning, while others end all too soon. However you do it, the fact is, the path you’re on, the choices you make, define who you are. Choices. They’re the building blocks or our lives, they shape our past, present and future. And despite all the mistakes I’ve made, every new day brings with it new choices and their whole new world of possibilities.” Being

There are time in our lives when we reach a crossroads, when we find ourselves stuck between a series of impossible choices. Should we move forward? Should we turn back? Which way is the right way? Around 40 years ago, Yale University conducted an extensive seven-year study on how a persons actions in life effects the lives of his or her children. This study was focused around the lives of two men: Max Jukes and Jonathan Edwards. Max Jukes was an Atheist that believed in the abolition of laws and rules. Mr. Jukes formed an organization called the Freedom Movement that preached free sex, no laws, no formal education and no responsibilities. Jonathan Edwards was known by all as the “disciplinarian”. Not because he disciplined his children harshly, but because he was a self-disciplined man. He became a preacher that believed in leading by example. He authored two books on the subjects of physical fitness and kindness. Mr. Edwards later became involved in teaching people to be responsible for their daily actions. Both of these men were chosen for their diverse beliefs, but also because they both fathered 13 children. Here are the legacies they left behind:

MAX JUKES JONATHON EDWARDS
1026 descendants 929 descendants
300 convicts 430 ministers/314 war veterans
27 murderers 75 authors
190 prostitutes 86 college professors
509 alcoholics & drug addicts 13 university presidents

50 THINGS YOU CAN CONTROL RIGHT NOW

by Lori Deschene

“Why worry about things you can’t control when you can keep yourself busy controlling the things that depend on you?” ~Unknown

CNN reports that psychic businesses are thriving in this challenging economy—and the clientele has expanded to include more business professionals who are worried about their financial future. According to Columbia Business School’s Professor Gita Johar who studies consumer behavior, the greatest motivation for visiting a psychic is to feel a sense of control.

Sure, there are lots of things we can’t control: businesses may fold, stocks may plummet, relationships may end–the list is infinite, really. But wouldn’t we be far more effective if we focused on all things we can control instead; if we stopped worrying about the indefinite and started benefiting from the guaranteed?

Right now you can control:

1. How many times you smile today.
2. How much effort you exert at work.
3. Your level of honesty.
4. How well you prepare.
5. How you act on your feelings.
6. How often you say “thank you.”
7. When you pull out your wallet for luxuries.
8. Whether or not you give someone the benefit of the doubt.
9. How you interpret situations.
10. Whether or not you compete with people around you.
11. How often you notice and appreciate small acts of kindness—they’re everywhere!
12. Whether you listen or wait to talk.
13. When you walk away from a conversation.
14. How nice you are to yourself in your head.
15. Whether you think positive or negative thoughts.
16. Whether or not you form expectations of people.
17. The type of food you eat.
18. When you answer someone’s question—or email or call.
19. How much time you spend worrying.
20. How many new things you try.
21. How much exercise you get.
22. How many times you swear in traffic.
23. Whether or not you plan for the weather.
24. How much time you spend trying to convince people you’re right.
25. How often you think about your past.
26. How many negative articles you read.
27. The attention you give to your loved ones when you see them.
28. How much you enjoy the things you have right now.
29. Whether or not you communicate something that’s on your mind.
30. How clean or uncluttered you keep your space.
31. What books you read.
32. How well you network at social events.
33. How deeply you breathe when you experience stress.
34. How many times you admit you don’t know something—and then learn something new.
35. How often you use your influence to help people instead of focusing on building your influence.
36. When you ask for help.
37. Which commitments you keep and cancel.
38. How many risks you take.
39. How creative/innovative you are in your thinking.
40. How clear you are when you explain your thoughts.
41. Whether you formulate a new plan or act on your existing one.
42. How much information you get before you make a decision.
43. How much information you share with people.
44. Whether you smoke or drink (unless you’re an alcoholic, in which case I am not qualified to offer you advice.)
45. Whether or not you judge other people.
46. Whether you smell good or bad (unless you have some strange resistance to soap and deodorant).
47. How much of what other people say you believe.
48. How quickly you try again after you fall.
49. How many times you say “I love you.”
50. How much rest you get at night.

Odds are some of these resonate with you more than others; so what? You can’t do 50 things at once anyway. When I start fixating on something I can’t control, I pick just one of these to think about instead. Minor changes in thinking, I’ve found, lead to major changes in my reality.
